Gallarus Oratory

Heritage Film

A film for the visitor centre that brings context to one of Ireland’s most iconic ancient sites.

Created in close collaboration with local custodians, Gallarus Oratory explores the history, construction and enduring significance of this remarkable place.

Overview

Gallarus Oratory is a short heritage film produced for the Gallarus Oratory Visitor Centre in County Kerry.

The film was created to enhance visitor understanding and appreciation of the site – from it’s early Christian origins to it’s architectural ingenuity and lasting spiritual significance.

Working closely with local historians and side custodians, we developed a film that is both informative and atmospheric, bringing the story of Gallarus Oratory to life on screen.

The Story

Built between the 6th and 9th centuries, Gallarus Oratory is one of the best -preserved early Christian churches in Ireland.

Set against the Dingle Peninsula, it has stood for over a thousand years – a testament to the skill of it’s builders and the communities who have cared for it.

The film reveals the layers of history behind the site, exploring it’s construction, purpose and place withing the wider story of early Christianity in Ireland.
